Governance

Bright Future is a not-for-profit co-operative and as such all members have an equal say in how Bright Future operates.
Initially Bright Future was a partnership between the Co-operative Group and Causeway, a charity specialising in supporting survivors of modern slavery. As the programme developed and more partners came on board it was quickly realised that it had outgrown its current arrangements.
In 2019 the stakeholders agreed that the best way to sustain the service was for Bright Future to become an independent co-operative whose members are drawn from the businesses who provide placements and charities who refer survivors into the programme.
In May 2020 Bright Future (Co-operative) Limited was registered with the Financial Conduct Authority as a co-operative society. As a co-operative enterprise Bright Future is uniquely placed to provide a service that is designed, owned, and controlled by those closest to it, its members.
